Early Years

Victor ROMAN's (1937-1995) sculpture testifies, in metaphorical form, of objects and gestures of a now vanished civilization, in which his childhood in Transylvania had plunged him, and of which he thus perpetuated the memory and the harmonies. Victor Roman rproduced an important, fruitful and very unique work in the history of art of the 60s and 90s, by its authenticity apart from trends and fashions.

About his Art

Mystical and smiling blacksmith, Victor Roman has produced numerous monumental works in France, which now watch over crossroads and bring their unexpected morphology and friendly presence to the squares. Victor Roman from the school of fine art in Bucharest as well as Constantin Brancusi, both born at the foot of the Carpathians, in a rural and archaic world, express in their own way, in an abstract way their youth which they have never seen before. Admirable balance between sensuality and spirituality, between audacity and wisdom, strength and tenderness of forms that, offered as an example to modern sculpture. His works include signs that leap into space, forming stems, sharp points, ellipses that surround the void. He made many monumental works, which made Pierre Restany say, "The urban territory of the Paris region is the real public museum of Victor Roman".
